Jammu, May 12 – A solemn wreath-laying ceremony was held on Monday at the BSF headquarters in Jammu to honour Constable Deepak Chingakham, who lost his life following cross-border firing by Pakistani troops.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, accompanied by Minister Satish Sharma, BSF Inspector General (Jammu Frontier) Shashank Anand, senior BSF officers, police, and civil administration officials, paid floral tributes to the fallen soldier.
Constable Chingakham sustained fatal injuries during unprovoked firing along the international border in the R S Pura sector of Jammu district on May 10. He succumbed to his injuries on May 11, leaving behind a legacy of bravery and commitment.
Expressing deep grief, LG Manoj Sinha said, "I salute the brave son of Mother India, BSF Constable Deepak Chingakham, who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. We share the grief of the family and stand in solidarity."
Following the tribute ceremony, the tricolour-wrapped coffin carrying Chingakham’s mortal remains was dispatched to his hometown for the final rites. The Border Security Force and state authorities paid their respects with full military honours.
