J-K Police's SIA Raids 20 Locations in South Kashmir, Detains Suspects Linked to UAPA Case.webp

Srinagar, May 11 — In a major crackdown on terrorist networks, the State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday carried out searches at 20 different locations across South Kashmir. The operation was conducted as part of an investigation into a case registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

According to officials, multiple suspects were detained during the raids, and substantial incriminating materials were seized. The detained individuals are currently being interrogated for their involvement in alleged anti-national activities.

Uncovering a Terror Conspiracy
Preliminary investigations have reportedly revealed that the entities under scrutiny were engaged in a broader terrorist conspiracy. Officials stated that the individuals were involved in promoting and furthering anti-India narratives, with the intent to challenge India’s sovereignty, provoke public disorder, and incite communal hatred.

Links to Pakistan-Based Handlers

The investigation has also exposed links between local sleeper cells in Kashmir and their handlers based in Pakistan. Officials noted that these terror associates were transmitting sensitive and strategic information concerning security forces and critical infrastructure through encrypted messaging platforms such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and Signal.

Online Radicalisation and Terror Networks
The suspects are also believed to have been disseminating radical content online at the behest of terror commanders affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Muhammed. Authorities assert that these actions posed a serious threat to national security and integrity.

Jammu and Kashmir Police continue to maintain heightened surveillance on terror associates and overground workers (OGWs) operating in the region. The ongoing investigation aims to dismantle the wider support network enabling cross-border terrorism and internal radicalisation.
