Los Angeles, May 17 — Hollywood stars Jacob Elordi and Lily-Rose Depp are reportedly in discussions to headline the upcoming film Outer Dark, an adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s 1968 novel.
The project, described as a “dark fairytale,” will mark the English-language debut of acclaimed Hungarian director Laszlo Nemes. Nemes previously gained international recognition for his Oscar-winning film Son of Saul, which secured the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
A Grim Tale Set in the Great Depression
Set against the haunting backdrop of Appalachia during the Great Depression, Outer Dark unfolds the tragic story of a young woman who gives birth to her brother’s child. The brother abandons the infant in the woods and lies to his sister, claiming the baby died of natural causes and was buried.Driven by the devastating truth, the sister is desperate to find her child. Meanwhile, both siblings wander the harsh countryside, unaware that they are being pursued by three mysterious and deadly figures who bring devastation in their wake.
