Srinagar, March 1: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday reaffirmed his government's commitment to fulfilling all promises made to the public, while sharply criticising the BJP's reported move to establish a "shadow cabinet," asserting that such a system does not exist in India.
Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Abdullah emphasised, "There is only one cabinet. There is no shadow cabinet in our country. The BJP has ruled here till now. Now, the people's government will do its work." He further stated, "There is no need for a shadow. We have promised the people about meeting their expectations, and we stand by our promise."
CM Abdullah Visits Masoodi Family to Offer Condolences
Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Abdullah visited the residence of the late Ghulam Sibtain Masoodi to extend condolences to the grieving family. Masoodi, who passed away earlier this week, was the brother of National Conference MLA Hasnain Masoodi and father-in-law of Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.Government Reviews Preparations for Ramadan
Chief Minister Abdullah also held a comprehensive review meeting regarding preparations for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan. Highlighting the government's responsibility, Abdullah stated, "We reviewed every department and directed all to ensure every facility, be it power supply at the time of Sehri and Iftar, water supply, ration supply, sanitation and traffic. It is hoped that the government will take all these steps."Meeting with Lieutenant Governor Ahead of Budget Session
Additionally, Abdullah held discussions with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, addressing key issues related to the forthcoming Budget Session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. According to an official spokesperson, the budget session is set to begin on Monday.
