Banihal/Jammu, February 28: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have seized immovable assets belonging to five operatives of the banned terrorist organization Hizbul Mujahideen in the Gool area of Ramban district, authorities confirmed on Friday.
The operatives identified are Saraj Din (48) from Sangaldan, Reyaz Ahmed (45) from Dalwah, Farooq Ahmed (46) from Banj Bhimdassa, and Mohd Ashraf (50) and Mushtaq Ahmed (47) from Moila. According to police sources, all five had previously crossed over into Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), from where they continue their militant operations against India.
The police spokesperson stated, "The seizure of these immovable properties is a decisive step aimed at dismantling terror-funding networks and preventing the resurgence of militancy in the region. It also sends a strong and unequivocal message to terrorists operating from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir that attempts to revive terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir will not be tolerated."
Properties Targeted to Fund Terror Activities
Investigations revealed that these operatives had intended to sell their immovable assets to finance terror activities and recruit local youth into militancy. The seizure order, authorized by the Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) in Gool, explicitly bars the sale, lease, or any transaction involving these properties without prior approval from Jammu and Kashmir Police or other competent authorities. This move effectively cuts off a potential financial source that Hizbul Mujahideen could exploit to regain its influence in the region, the spokesperson added.
Families to Face Legal and Financial Constraints
As a result of this seizure, the families of these operatives will face significant legal and financial constraints, effectively blocking indirect support to militant operations. The spokesperson emphasized that security forces remain committed to maintaining peace, stability, and development in Jammu and Kashmir. He further reiterated the administration's proactive stance against terror financing, Overground Worker (OGW) networks, and cross-border terrorist elements, highlighting that these actions have significantly weakened terror activities in the recent past.
The latest police action is in line with the government's stringent zero-tolerance policy against terrorism, ensuring continued vigilance and sustained security in Jammu and Kashmir.
