Jammu and Kashmir Sees First Peaceful Night After Operation Sindoor Strikes.webp

No Hostilities Reported Along LoC and International Border, Says Indian Army

New Delhi, May 12 — For the first time in several days, Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a calm and peaceful night, with no reports of hostilities between Indian and Pakistani forces along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border, the Indian Army confirmed on Monday morning.

In a brief statement, the Army noted, "The night remained largely peaceful across Jammu and Kashmir and other areas along the International border." It added, "No incidents have been reported, marking the first calm night in recent days."

This development comes after several days of heightened military tension following the launch of Operation Sindoor by India in the early hours of May 7. The operation was a response to the Pahalgam terror attack, targeting seven terror infrastructures located in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

All retaliatory strikes by Indian forces since then have been carried out under the ambit of Operation Sindoor.

On Saturday, India and Pakistan announced an agreement to halt all military actions across land, air, and sea, effective from 5 pm that day. However, there were reported violations by Pakistani forces later that night, casting initial doubts over the ceasefire's durability.

Despite those initial breaches, the peaceful night observed in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday offers a tentative sign of de-escalation in the region.
