Jammu & Kashmir to play Ranji Trophy quarterfinal against Kerala in Pune

Pune, Feb 2 (PTI): The much-anticipated Ranji Trophy quarterfinal between Jammu and Kashmir and Kerala has been relocated to the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune, with play set to begin on February 8. The decision to shift the venue from Srinagar was taken due to "potential weather concerns", as raised by the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Confirming the move, MCA President Rohit Pawar expressed confidence in the venue’s ability to host a smooth and competitive contest. “We have a good infrastructure to host top-level cricket, and I’m sure both teams will have a great playing experience under these conditions,” he said in a statement on Sunday.

MCA Secretary Kamlesh Pisal also highlighted Pune’s favorable weather conditions, stating, “Our venue poses no weather concerns, which made it an ideal choice for this crucial match.”

Jammu and Kashmir secured their quarterfinal berth in commanding fashion, thrashing Baroda by 182 runs in their final Elite Group A clash on Sunday. They now join defending champions Mumbai in the final eight of the prestigious tournament.

With both J&K and Kerala eyeing a semifinal spot, the Pune leg of the competition promises to deliver a high-stakes battle.
