Jamshedpur Gets Eastern India's First Gas-Based Pet Crematorium

Jamshedpur, March 1: In a pioneering move for pet welfare, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, has introduced a gas-based pet crematorium, marking the first such facility in eastern India. The crematorium, funded by Tata Steel, is located near the dog kennel in Jubilee Park.

According to Tata Steel Vice President (Corporate Services) Chanakya Chaudhary, the initiative aims to provide pet owners with a dignified, safe, and environmentally responsible way to bid farewell to their beloved animals. The crematorium operates using Piped Natural Gas (PNG), a cost-effective and eco-friendly fuel.

Pet owners can avail of the service at a charge of ₹3,000, with the facility capable of cremating pets weighing up to 50 kg.

Ruchi Narendran, President of the Jamshedpur Kennel Club, highlighted the significance of the initiative, emphasizing that it allows pet owners to say their final goodbyes with the respect and care their companions deserve.

This development underscores Jamshedpur's growing focus on pet welfare and sustainable solutions, setting a benchmark for similar initiatives in the region.
