NCP (SP) Leader Highlights Crop Damage and Calls for Swift Government Action
Mumbai, May 17 — Maharashtra NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) president Jayant Patil on Saturday voiced serious concern over the extensive losses suffered by farmers due to heavy unseasonal rains and hailstorms across the state. He urged the government to act without delay and extend immediate assistance to those affected.In an official statement, Patil pointed out that widespread rainfall and hailstorms have caused significant damage to crops in multiple districts. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also predicted continued rainfall in the coming days, compounding the distress for the farming community.
“The state is experiencing heavy unseasonal rainfall, with hailstorms reported in several regions. This has caused significant crop damage, and the meteorological department has predicted more rainfall in the coming days. I urge the government to provide immediate assistance to the affected farmers,” Patil stated.
He drew attention to a tragic incident in Manora, Washim district, where a farmer lost all his produce after it was swept away in the rains.
Patil emphasized the urgent need for the state government to initiate relief measures and compensate farmers reeling from losses. He stressed that timely intervention is critical to preventing further hardship for the agricultural sector.
