Kota, Feb 3 (PTI) – A tragic road accident claimed the life of a 17-year-old JEE aspirant from Uttar Pradesh after a mini-bus ran over him on Mala Road in Kota, Rajasthan. The police have arrested the accused driver, officials confirmed on Monday.
According to Station House Officer (SHO) Ramkishan Godara, the deceased, Archit Yadav, was a Class 12 student from Meerut district who had been preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) in Kota since 2020. He was residing at his relative’s home in Mahatma Gandhi Colony.
The fatal incident occurred on Sunday evening in the Bhemganj Mandi area while Archit was out shopping with his father, a retired army personnel. As his father stepped away to use a public toilet, Archit stood beside their parked motorcycle when a mini-bus struck the vehicle and fatally ran over him before fleeing the scene, police said.
Despite his father's immediate efforts to rush him to MBS Hospital, doctors declared Archit brought dead. His body was handed over to his family on Monday following a post-mortem examination.
A case has been registered against the bus driver under relevant sections, and the police have arrested the accused. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
