Kilkenny (Ireland), May 17 – Indian golf veteran Jeev Milkha Singh delivered a superb five-under-par 67, the joint-lowest round of the day, to climb into tied fourth position at the Irish Legends tournament after two rounds.
Singh, who opened with a 70, now stands at seven-under-par overall, trailing leader Keith Horne by four shots heading into the final round. The 52-year-old showcased vintage form on a challenging day at Mount Juliet, navigating swirling winds with precision and putting flair.
“I am really happy with my game – I hit a lot of greens and holed a lot of putts,” said the four-time DP World Tour winner. “It was tougher today, with the wind making club selection difficult. Tomorrow's game plan is to just go out there, take it shot-by-shot, stick to my routine, play the best I can and see what comes my way.”
Horne Maintains Lead with Commanding Display
South African Keith Horne followed his opening 65 with a composed 68, taking his total to 11-under and opening up a three-shot lead over former Open champion Paul Lawrie and Legends Tour Order of Merit leader Scott Hend, both at 8-under.Despite the tricky conditions, Horne continued his dominance on the par-fives, birdieing all four after making two eagles and a birdie on them in the first round.
Trio in Contention Behind Leaders
Alongside Singh at tied fourth are Peter Baker and Mikael Lundberg, both fellow Tour winners, one stroke behind the second-placed duo at seven-under. All three managed to stay in contention despite a testing round, setting the stage for a thrilling final day.Hend had a rollercoaster round, carding five birdies, one eagle, and four bogeys. The Australian will look to build on his momentum to chase down Horne in the concluding round.
Jeev Milkha Singh, who finished tied eighth at the same event last year, will now aim for a higher finish or potentially a podium spot with one strong round remaining.
