Incident and Immediate Arrest

Jharkhand BJP leader Sita Soren narrowly escaped a gun attack allegedly orchestrated by her assistant at a hotel in the Saraidhela area of Dhanbad district. The incident occurred late on Thursday night after a heated altercation between Soren and her assistant, identified as Devashish Manoranjan Ghosh, according to police officials.

Following the confrontation, Ghosh allegedly aimed a handgun at Sita Soren, prompting swift action from her bodyguard, who managed to overpower and disarm the assailant. Immediately afterward, local police arrived at the scene, arrested Ghosh, and seized a country-made pistol from him.

Police Complaint and Investigation

Sita Soren, who is also the sister-in-law of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and daughter-in-law of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) supremo Shibu Soren, filed an official police complaint at Saraidhela police station after the incident. DSP (Law & Order) Naushad Alam confirmed the arrest and stated that police are investigating the case, including potential lapses in security arrangements.

"The accused has been taken into custody, and we have also recovered the firearm. The security lapse angle is under investigation," said DSP Alam.

Background of Sita Soren

Sita Soren had earlier served three terms as an MLA representing JMM. She shifted allegiance to the BJP in March last year, shortly before the Lok Sabha elections. In November, Soren contested the Jharkhand Assembly elections from the Jamtara seat but was defeated by a JMM candidate.

Purpose of Visit to Dhanbad

According to the police, Sita Soren visited Dhanbad on Thursday evening to attend a wedding ceremony. Ghosh reportedly drove her vehicle. After the event, she proceeded to the private hotel in Saraidhela, where the incident unfolded.

Police are continuing their investigation to uncover further details regarding the motive behind the alleged attack.
