
Latehar (Jharkhand), February 12 A 20-year-old woman was found hanging from a tree in the Latehar district of Jharkhand on Thursday, police said.
According to police, the woman allegedly took this drastic step after her mother scolded her for spending too much time on her cellphone.
The incident took place in Bhagtola, within the jurisdiction of the Chhipadohar police station.
"According to the statement of the woman's mother, the victim was addicted to her smartphone, and she had scolded her for this. After that, the woman left home. When her family went to check on her later, they found her hanging from a tree," said Kishor Munda, in-charge of the Chhipadohar police station.
Munda said the woman hanged herself using a scarf.
Sub-inspector Vikashendu Tripathi, who went to the village for investigation, said that prima facie, it appeared to be a case of suicide.
"But, we are investigating it from all possible angles," he said.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination at the Latehar Sadar hospital, Tripathi added.
