Kolkata, Feb 27: Jupiter Tatravagonka Railwheel Factory, the wheelset manufacturing arm of Jupiter Wagons Limited (JWL), has won a contract worth ₹255 crore from Braithwaite & Co.
The deal involves supplying 9,140 wheelsets of 840 mm diameter designed for 25-ton axle load applications. This strengthens Jupiter's position as a key domestic manufacturer of high-performance railway wheelsets.
JWL's Managing Director, Vivek Lohia, highlighted the company's commitment to innovation and enhancing India's railway ecosystem. "We are dedicated to driving growth in the transportation sector through continued investments in advanced manufacturing for wheels and axles, with a planned investment of ₹2,500 crore," he said.
With this latest order, Jupiter's total order book has now reached ₹560 crore, reinforcing its expanding presence in railway infrastructure.
As part of its growth strategy, the company aims to generate ₹600 crore in revenue from its wheel business in FY26, nearly doubling its current contribution. To achieve this, Jupiter is undertaking a major expansion by establishing a world-class production facility in Odisha with an investment of ₹2,500 crore.
The company's production capacity is set to increase significantly from 20,000 forged wheels and axles annually to 1,00,000 forged wheelsets per year. The axle production facility is expected to commence commercial operations by December 2026, with the complete wheel and axle production unit slated for completion by December 2027.
