Third Judge from Delhi High Court Transferred Recently
Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma has been transferred from the Delhi High Court to the Calcutta High Court, the Union Law Ministry announced on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.This transfer marks the third recent shift involving judges from the Delhi High Court. Earlier, Justices Yashwant Varma and Chandra Dhari Singh were similarly transferred to other courts.
Supreme Court Collegium Recommended the Transfer
The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended Justice Sharma's transfer late last month, following which the central government issued the official notification today.Justice Sharma, appointed as a judge of the Delhi High Court in 2022, currently holds the 18th position in seniority among judges of the Delhi High Court. Before his elevation to the High Court, he served prominently as the District and Sessions Judge of New Delhi and Registrar (Vigilance) at the Delhi High Court.
The transfer is part of routine judicial appointments and transfers aimed at maintaining judicial balance across the nation's courts.
