Cuttack, May 12 – Justice Dixit Krishna Shripad officially assumed his role as a judge of the Orissa High Court following a swearing-in ceremony held at the court premises on Monday.
Chief Justice Harish Tandon of the Orissa High Court administered the oath of office. Justice Shripad's transfer from the Karnataka High Court to the Orissa High Court took effect on May 1.
Justice Shripad began his legal career in July 1989 after enrolling as an advocate. He practiced law primarily in the Karnataka and Madras High Courts, gaining extensive experience over the years.
Throughout his career, he has held several key legal positions. In 1999, he was appointed as the senior standing counsel for the Election Commission of India, and also served as an additional central government standing counsel.
Justice Shripad has represented several prominent national bodies, including the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Competition Commission of India, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, and the National Institute of Unani Medicines.
In 2014, he was appointed as the Assistant Solicitor General of India, representing the central government in numerous significant legal matters. His judicial career began with his elevation to the Karnataka High Court bench on February 14, 2018.
Justice Shripad’s addition to the Orissa High Court bench is expected to bring his rich legal expertise and administrative experience to the fore in the state’s judiciary.
