Kalaburagi, Karnataka – In a tragic road accident in the early hours of Saturday, five people, including a 13-year-old girl, lost their lives and 11 others sustained injuries after a mini bus collided with a stationary truck near Nelogi Cross in Jewargi taluk of Kalaburagi district.According to the police, the incident occurred around 3:30 AM when the mini bus, carrying a group of devotees from Bagalkote to a dargah in Kalaburagi, rammed into a parked truck on the roadside. The truck had reportedly stopped due to a punctured tyre, and the driver was in the process of fixing it.
Driver Suspected to Have Fallen Asleep
A preliminary investigation suggests that the mini bus driver may have dozed off while driving at high speed, resulting in the vehicle crashing into the truck from behind. The impact of the collision was severe, leading to the instant deaths of five passengers.Superintendent of Police A Srinivasulu confirmed the fatalities and stated that several others suffered injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital.
Driver Found Critically Injured
