Kalpataru Projects Faces GST Penalty of ₹35.38 Lakh; Plans to Appeal

Mumbai, January 30, 2025 – Kalpataru Projects International Limited (KPIL) has disclosed that a consortium in which the company is a member has received an order under Section 73 of the State Goods and Services Tax (GST) Act, 2017, and relevant provisions of the Central GST Act, 2017.
The GST Authority issued the order on January 29, 2025, at 6:03 PM IST, alleging the wrong availment of Input Tax Credit (ITC) for FY 2020-21. As a result, the consortium has been directed to pay a penalty of ₹35.38 lakh.
KPIL stated that the order was issued without considering the reply and documentary evidence submitted by the consortium. The company maintains that it has a strong case to contest the demand and will appeal before the Appellate Authority within the prescribed timeline.
