Mumbai, Feb 3 (PTI) – Filmmaker Karan Johar has unveiled his latest production, Nadaaniyan, a romantic drama set to premiere directly on Netflix. The film marks the acting debut of Ibrahim Ali Khan, son of Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, alongside Khushi Kapoor, daughter of the late Sridevi and producer Boney Kapoor.
At Netflix’s 2025 content slate announcement, Johar expressed excitement about the project, calling it a celebration of young love and a new-age romance.
“I have come to present the new face of romance,” Johar declared. “If you want to see true chemistry, you will get that in this film. They are truly smashing together. Watching them, I felt the FOMO of being young again. Nadaaniyan is a high-spirited, energetic love story that will resonate with today’s generation.”
Directed by Shauna Gautam, Nadaaniyan follows the story of a South Delhi socialite and a middle-class overachiever who become entangled in an unconventional plan—she hires him as a fake boyfriend to maintain her squad's approval. However, when real emotions surface, their carefully crafted arrangement spirals into unexpected territory.
Johar, known for mentoring new talent, highlighted his pride in introducing yet another fresh director to the industry.
“I’m thrilled not only because the two leads are close to my heart but also because of the filmmaker, who is the 24th director I’ve introduced. Out of those 24, 23 have come from outside the industry,” he emphasized, addressing past criticism about nepotism in Bollywood.
The event also featured a special performance by Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor on Ishq Mein, a song from the film, further fueling anticipation for Nadaaniyan's release.
With Johar’s signature touch of romance, drama, and grandeur, Nadaaniyan is poised to captivate audiences when it debuts on Netflix later this year.
