Bengaluru, Feb 2 (PTI): The internal discord within the Karnataka BJP has escalated, with a faction of leaders pushing for the removal of state unit chief B.Y. Vijayendra. According to sources, the group is set to meet top party leaders in Delhi to press their demand.
The faction includes MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi, MP K Sudhakar, and former legislators Kumar Bangarappa and Aravind Limbavali. They are expected to reach the national capital on Monday to present their case.
Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Sudhakar confirmed the development, stating, “Our matter has now reached Delhi. I will let you know about the decision that will be taken there.”
Ahead of their trip, Jarkiholi and Bangarappa visited the Chamundeshwari temple in Mysuru, seeking divine blessings for their mission, sources said.
The campaign against Vijayendra, initially led by Vijayapura MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, has gathered momentum, drawing support from senior leaders, including former chief minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda.
The faction is reportedly upset with Vijayendra for allegedly sidelining several senior leaders. Yatnal has been vocal in his opposition, targeting Vijayendra and his father, former CM B.S. Yediyurappa, accusing them of promoting dynastic politics—a practice the party opposes at the national level.
The developments in Delhi will be crucial in determining the leadership structure of the BJP's Karnataka unit.
