Bengaluru, March 3: Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot on Monday emphasized that the Karnataka government is pioneering a distinctive model of development, gaining international recognition and attracting global attention from economists and universities alike.
Addressing the joint session of the state legislature at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru, Gehlot explained that this unique "Karnataka Model of Development" prioritizes a people-centric approach, integrating economic growth, social welfare, and cultural governance.
“The Karnataka Model of Development means creating a people-centric economic, social and cultural governance. Green energy and women empowerment initiatives are integral to this approach,” the Governor remarked.
Global Praise for Karnataka’s Unique Approach
Governor Gehlot noted that the Karnataka model is now a subject of extensive international study. Highlighting its global significance, he pointed out that prestigious institutions such as Oxford University have praised the state's efforts on its Human Rights Hub blog, describing it as “Shining a Light in the Darkness” and “A Blueprint for the World.”Further underscoring the international attention, the Governor added, “The head of the United Nations personally visited Karnataka to closely study our development strategies and publicly commended our programs.”
Addressing Concerns over Welfare Schemes
Responding to criticisms about potential negative impacts on the state's economic stability and overall development caused by ambitious welfare and guarantee schemes, Gehlot firmly dismissed these fears.“The government has proven these predictions to be false,” the Governor stated confidently, affirming the robust health of the state’s financial position despite substantial welfare investments.
Karnataka's holistic development approach continues to set benchmarks globally, positioning the state as a role model in sustainable governance and inclusive growth.
