Thane, February 26: A senior official of the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has been suspended for failing to curb illegal constructions within the civic body's jurisdiction.
Several unauthorized chawls had emerged in areas such as Manda, Titwala, Balyani, Baneli, Umbarni, and Vasundri, all falling under KDMC's Ward A, according to civic officials.
KDMC Commissioner Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar recently visited Titwala to inspect the outer circular road, where she observed widespread illegal construction activity. Following her inspection, she directed the civic assistant commissioner to take immediate action against the unauthorized structures.
However, due to non-compliance with these directives, the official was suspended on Monday for failing to remove illegal constructions, disobeying orders from superiors, and violating office discipline, authorities confirmed.
