Bengaluru, May 17 – In a landmark development, Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (BLR Airport) has reported a record profit for the first time since its inception, marking a significant financial turnaround, according to the Bangalore International Airport Authority (BIAL).
The milestone was announced during BIAL's board meeting held on May 16, chaired by Shalini Rajneesh, Chief Secretary to the Government of Karnataka and Chairperson of BIAL.

In a press statement, BIAL highlighted that the airport’s first-ever profit reflects its strategic growth, operational excellence, and sustainability-driven initiatives. Adding to its financial success, BLR Airport has garnered multiple international accolades in 2025, solidifying its reputation as a pioneer in sustainable and safe airport operations.Key Sustainability Achievements:
- Level 5 ACI Accreditation: Effective May 5, 2024, BLR Airport became the first airport in Asia to secure Level 5 accreditation under the Airports Council International’s (ACI) Airport Carbon Accreditation programme.
- Net-Zero Emissions: The airport achieved net-zero status for Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions, seven years ahead of its 2030 target, recording an impressive 95.6% reduction.
- Silver Award for Green Initiatives: In 2025, the airport received the Silver Award in the ACI Green Airports Recognition under the theme ‘Sustainable Energy at Airports’ for the 15–38 million passenger category. This is the fourth consecutive year BLR Airport has been honoured for its environmental leadership.
