Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan Welcomes Ceasefire, Resumes Anniversary Celebrations from May 13
Thiruvananthapuram, May 10 – Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday welcomed the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, describing it as a “wise decision” that prioritizes peace and stability in the region.In an official statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office, Vijayan emphasized the significance of choosing dialogue over conflict. "It is important to stand firmly for the peace and progress of the country while maintaining a strong stance against terrorist forces," the statement read.
State’s Fourth Anniversary Events to Resume
With the easing of tensions following the ceasefire, the Kerala government has announced the resumption of its fourth anniversary celebrations, which had been previously suspended due to the hostilities. The festivities will restart from May 13 across the state.The programme schedule includes:
- District and state-level public meetings
- ‘Ente Keralam’ exhibition-cum-sale fairs
- Regional review meetings
Revised Dates for Postponed Events
The Chief Minister also clarified that the rescheduled dates for postponed programmes in Malappuram and other locations impacted by the suspension will be announced soon.On Friday, Vijayan had declared a pause in the government’s anniversary celebrations, citing the India-Pakistan military conflict. With the ceasefire now in effect, the state is set to resume its public engagements and policy outreach initiatives.
