Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 2 (PTI) – Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is set to inaugurate 30 newly constructed smart anganwadis, equipped with modern facilities aimed at fostering the holistic development of children. The inauguration will take place on Monday via video conference at an event hosted in an auditorium here.
According to an official statement released on Sunday, State Health Minister Veena George will preside over the function. Highlighting the initiative, George stated that the transformation of traditional anganwadis into smart anganwadis aligns with the government's commitment to creating child-friendly environments that support both the physical and mental well-being of children.
So far, approval has been granted for the construction of 189 smart anganwadis across the state, with 89 already operational. "With the addition of these 30 new facilities, the total number of smart anganwadis in Kerala now stands at 117," George said.
Designed to cater to the comprehensive needs of children, these modern anganwadis come equipped with a study room, dining hall, restroom, kitchen, storeroom, indoor and outdoor play areas, a multipurpose hall, and a garden, ensuring an enriching and nurturing atmosphere for young learners.
This initiative underscores Kerala's continued efforts to enhance early childhood education and care, reinforcing the state’s commitment to progressive childcare policies.
