Kozhikode, Kerala, February 28, 2025 – Police have registered a case against four students following a violent clash near a private tuition centre in Thamarassery, Kozhikode district, which left a Class 10 student seriously injured.
The incident, which occurred on February 23, involved students from two local schools and reportedly stemmed from ongoing disagreements related to a farewell event organised for Class 10 students at the tuition centre.
According to police, tensions flared up during the farewell programme when music was abruptly halted during a dance performance. This disruption triggered unrest among some students, prompting immediate intervention by teachers and staff at the venue. Although the initial incident was temporarily contained, students later confronted each other outside the tuition centre, escalating into violence.
During the altercation, one Class 10 student sustained a severe head injury, necessitating medical attention.
Thamarassery police have booked four students under multiple charges, including assault, rioting, and unlawful assembly. An investigation into the incident is currently underway, police officials confirmed.
Authorities are actively probing the details to ensure accountability and to prevent similar incidents in the future.
