
Both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha have been adjourned for a break to reconvene on the 9th of next month. The first phase of the Budget Session began on the 28th of last month with President Droupadi Murmu's address to a joint session of both Houses.
The Budget Session is being held in two phases. The second phase will take place from March 9th to April 2nd of this year. When the Lok Sabha reconvened at 12:00 noon after the first adjournment, several ministers placed documents related to their ministries on the table. Following this, the presiding officer, Sandhya Ray, adjourned the House.
Earlier, when the House assembled for the day, the presiding officer, Sandhya Ray, made a reference to the passing of former MP Bhagwan Dass Rathor, who had died on January 21st. The House also observed silence in his honour.
Following this, the presiding officer initiated Question Hour, in which Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda attempted to answer a question regarding deaths caused by the consumption of Codeine-based cough syrup, but he was unable to complete his response due to opposition uproar.
Members from the opposition, including the Congress, TMC, and DMK, entered the well and began chanting slogans. She urged members to allow the House to function so that other members could speak during Question Hour. The opposition members continued their protest, leading to the adjournment of the House until 12:00 noon.
Meanwhile, the Rajya Sabha has also been adjourned for a break to reconvene on the 9th of next month. During both Zero Hour and Question Hour in the Upper House, proceedings were conducted smoothly. When the House reconvened at 11:00 AM, several members placed documents on the table.
Rajya Sabha Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan read a message from President Droupadi Murmu, expressing her gratitude to the members of the Rajya Sabha for the address delivered to both Houses of the Parliament on January 28th. Following this, the House proceeded with Zero Hour, during which members from various political parties raised urgent issues.
