Lucknow, Feb 3 (PTI) – Bhutan's King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck arrived in Lucknow on Monday, marking the beginning of his visit to India for the revered Maha Kumbh festival, an official statement confirmed.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath welcomed the Bhutanese monarch at the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, presenting him with a bouquet and exchanging warm greetings. The two leaders engaged in a cordial conversation, with the Chief Minister inquiring about the King’s well-being.

As part of traditional Indian hospitality, cultural artists put up a vibrant performance at the airport to welcome the King. Wangchuck expressed his appreciation for their efforts, acknowledging and encouraging them.

The King is scheduled to visit the Maha Kumbh on Tuesday, where he will take a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam and participate in religious rituals, including darshan and pujan at the sacred site. His visit is expected to highlight the deep spiritual and cultural ties between Bhutan and India.
