Kishan Injured in Nets, Samson's Chance?.webp

New Delhi, February 11 Ishan Kishan showcased the aggressive form he has been displaying recently during practice sessions with the Indian team on Wednesday, until he was struck by a powerful Jasprit Bumrah delivery.

Bumrah, bowling with full intensity for the second consecutive day, was a positive sign for India, who had missed his services in the T20 World Cup opener against USA. However, the same could not be said about Kishan, who limped off the nets after being hit on the foot. Kishan did return to bat in the nets, but only briefly.

However, Bumrah appears set to return to the playing eleven for the match against Namibia, which will serve as a warm-up for him ahead of the crucial clash against Pakistan in Colombo on Sunday.

"Bumrah is absolutely fine now. He's doing better. As I said, we still have one more day, so hopefully he'll be back in the team. If he continues to improve, the team management will make a decision, and I think he could be back for the second game," said Tilak Varma on the eve of the match.

Bumrah even participated in fielding drills after his bowling session.

Sanju Samson, who had been out of the side due to poor form, could get a chance if Abhishek Sharma recovers in time from a stomach infection. Abhishek was admitted to a hospital after his arrival in Delhi but was discharged on Wednesday.

"We still have one more day before the match, so hopefully we'll decide by tomorrow how he feels and then move forward accordingly," added Tilak.

Sanju was among the batters who had a good practice session in the nets. Washington Sundar, who had been recovering from injury, also bowled and batted, while Suryakumar Yadav posed for numerous selfies with DDCA officials after his session.

The selfies were the highlight of the evening, with Kuldeep Yadav and Rinku Singh also obliging the DDCA officials and their families.
