Mumbai, India, February 05, 2025Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works Ltd. (KMEW) has secured a significant dredging contract from the Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCIL) for work at Deendayal Port, Kandla. The contract, valued at ₹48.45 crore (inclusive of taxes), is for one year, with an option to extend for another year upon mutual agreement.

Contract Overview

The agreement involves the chartering of a Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) for dredging operations at the following locations:

  • Navigational Channel
  • Kandla Creek
  • Oil Jetties
  • Cargo Berths at Deendayal Port.
The total project value for dredging at Deendayal Port is estimated at approximately ₹409 crore, with KMEW's stake in the project amounting to 10%.

Strategic Importance of the Contract

KMEW's participation in this contract strengthens its presence in India's western maritime sector. The company is already engaged in multiple dredging projects at Deendayal Port, including:

  • Maintenance dredging and salvage work valued at ₹15.06 crore
  • Deployment of a grab hopper dredger under a three-year contract.
