New Delhi, February 13 Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap wrote a lengthy post on his social media, praising the second season of the acclaimed series "Kohrra" and calling the performances of Mona Singh and Barun Sobti "cathartic".
Created and written by Gunjit Chopra, Diggi Sisodia, and Sudip Sharma, "Kohrra 2" is produced by A Film Squad Production in association with Act Three. Released on Netflix on February 11, the series featured Sobti as assistant Sub-Inspector Amarpal Garundi with Singh as a commanding officer, Dhanwant Kaur.
Kashyap shared a poster of "Kohrra 2" on his Instagram handle on Thursday as he praised the series.
The filmmaker also lauded Sharma's work, who made his directorial debut with the project, adding that he was moved to tears after the last episode of the series.
"I couldn't stop watching it. Sudip Sharma is officially the first showrunner in India who now has two even better second seasons for two great shows. The first one was 'Patal Lok', and now 'Kohrra'. The storytelling is superb, taking its time to unfold, allowing the characters to breathe. It doesn't rush to solve the mystery, and in the process, it unpacks an entire town of people who need therapy, including its protagonists," he wrote in the caption.
"The characters and performances of Mona Singh and Barun Sobti are so cathartic. By the last episode, I was crying. You won't believe that it's directed by two first-time filmmakers. And kudos to the creatives at Netflix for allowing it to just be and breathe. This gives me a lot of hope. It's unmissable and undeniably world-class. I haven't seen better writing in a long time... And then congratulations to @netflix.in for allowing the language of the land to be and not altering it according to the context. The cinematography, music, performances, every single department deserves all the praise. This is going to be a huge success," he added.
