Train Operations Temporarily Halted Due to Riverbed Maintenance Work
Kolkata, May 18 – Metro Railway Kolkata announced the suspension of services on the Howrah Maidan to Esplanade stretch on Sunday owing to urgent maintenance operations. The affected section includes a part that runs beneath the river Bhagirathi.In an official statement, Metro Railway confirmed a complete traffic block along this corridor, necessitated by essential technical maintenance. In metro operations, a “traffic block” refers to a full suspension of train services in the specified section.
The temporary disruption has been implemented to ensure safety and efficiency in the long-term operation of the route. Authorities have not yet confirmed when services will resume. Passengers are advised to plan their travel accordingly and use alternate transportation options.
