Kolkata Police Arrest Husband in Tangra Triple Murder Case After Lengthy Interrogation

Kolkata, March 4: The Kolkata Police arrested Prasun Dey, a key accused in the shocking Tangra triple murder case, following an intensive interrogation late Monday night, police officials confirmed.

Dey was arrested soon after his release from Kolkata’s Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College and Hospital, where he had been undergoing treatment under strict police supervision after an apparent suicide attempt alongside his elder brother, Pranay Dey.

Following discharge from the hospital on Monday evening, Prasun was taken directly to Tangra Police Station, close to his residence. Investigators noted significant discrepancies during questioning, leading to his arrest.

“Prasun Dey was arrested late Monday night and will be presented before the court today,” a senior police official said.

Case Background

The incident surfaced on February 19 when Prasun and Pranay Dey crashed their vehicle into a pillar on the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass in what appeared to be a suicide attempt. During medical treatment, both brothers revealed to police that the bodies of their wives and a minor girl were lying inside their residence in Tangra.

Police immediately visited the residence and recovered the victims’ bodies. An autopsy conducted on February 20 confirmed that all three victims had been murdered.

By February 25, police had indicated that their investigation ruled out the involvement of external perpetrators, focusing attention solely on the two brothers.

The investigation into the case is ongoing, and further details are awaited.
