Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 26 – Amid growing speculation of a major restructuring within the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), party president K Sudhakaran has affirmed his commitment to abide by any decision taken by the All India Congress Committee (AICC).

Addressing the media on Wednesday, Sudhakaran clarified that the high command had not instructed him to step down. However, he stated that if the AICC decided to reorganize the state unit and replace him, he would comply without hesitation.

"If they (AICC) ask me to step down, I will obey their command as a loyal and obedient party worker," he asserted.

Sudhakaran further emphasized that he has no grievances with the party and is content with his contributions. "I have no complaints and am satisfied with my work. The party has given me some of its most important positions," he remarked, adding that he holds no emotional conflicts over his role.

AICC’s Plans for Revamp Ahead of Elections

Reports from Delhi suggest that the AICC is considering a major restructuring of the Kerala Congress unit ahead of crucial local body elections this year and the state assembly elections in 2026. Discussions on reorganization had previously occurred when AICC general secretary in charge of Kerala, Deepa Dasmunsi, held separate meetings with state leaders.

However, Sudhakaran had raised concerns that he was not informed about these discussions, leading the high command to temporarily put the reorganization plans on hold.

With elections on the horizon, the Congress leadership has summoned key state leaders, including MPs, for a meeting in Delhi on Thursday to discuss electoral strategies and party preparations.

The potential revamp of the Kerala Congress unit remains a key development to watch as the party gears up for critical electoral battles in the coming months.
