Bengaluru, February 9 The Karnataka State Contractors' Association (KSCA) announced a statewide strike on March 31, demanding the immediate release of outstanding payments, and warned that ongoing construction projects across Karnataka would be halted if the government failed to act.

The association stated that contractors across the state would suspend their work and participate in large numbers, citing repeated representations to the government had yielded no results despite the accumulation of dues amounting to tens of thousands of crores.

In a statement, the association alleged that the government had been withholding payments for years.

"The Government of Karnataka has been delaying payments to contractors for approximately Rs 37,000 crore across various departments over a four-year period, starting from the 2022-23 financial year," it alleged.
