Kynan Chenai Leads Indian Effort as Trap Shooters Miss Finals at ISSF Shotgun World Cup

Nicosia (Cyprus), May 11 – Indian Olympian Kynan Chenai emerged as the top performer for the country on the penultimate day of the ISSF Shotgun World Cup, but the Indian trap shooting contingent failed to secure a spot in the finals of the individual events.

Kynan delivered a consistent performance in the men’s trap qualifiers with scores of 24, 24, 22, 24, and 23 across five rounds, totaling 117. Despite his efforts, he could only manage a 17th-place finish in the overall rankings.

Spain's Manuel Murcia clinched gold in the men’s event, while Lada Denisova, competing under the banner of the Individual Neutral Athletes (AIN), topped the women’s category.

India’s other representatives in the men's trap event, Shardul Vihan and Bhowneesh Mendiratta, finished well outside contention, ranking 62nd and 65th respectively.

The Indian women's team, comprising Kirti Gupta, Rajeshwari Kumari, and Sabeera Haris, also fell short of qualification, ending their campaigns without a finals berth.

India will now look to end their campaign on a high in the trap mixed team event, scheduled for the final day of competition on Sunday.
