Mumbai, February 12 Paromita Mukherjee won the 14th WIGA BPGC Open Ladies Amateur Golf Championships after overcoming a strong challenge from Uma Menon here on Thursday.
Local golfer Uma, who was trailing Paromita by one stroke overnight, set the pace early with three birdies on the second, third, and fourth holes, taking the lead and putting pressure on the competition.
However, she couldn't maintain the momentum as experienced Paromita – the current top-ranked player on the AVT Tour – responded with composure, steadily building her lead before eventually emerging as the winner.
Paromita shot one-over par on both the front and back nine, carding a single birdie for a gross score of 72, to finish with a total of 233 and win the Mahindra Trophy.
Uma finished with a final-round score of 75, aggregating 237, and settled for second place.
