Thane, Feb 4 (PTI) – Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has reaffirmed that the Ladki Bahin schemewill continue without any disruption, highlighting the Mahayuti government's unwavering commitment to women's welfare.

The scheme, which provides Rs 1,500 per month to women, has been widely credited for contributing to the BJP-led coalition's significant victory in the November 2024 state assembly elections. The ruling Mahayuti alliance consists of Shinde's Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar's NCP, among other parties.

Speaking at an event in Thane city on Monday night, Shinde assured that the government would never allow the Ladki Bahin scheme to be discontinued. He reiterated the administration’s focus on social welfare programs, emphasizing their responsibility towards the people after securing another term in power.

Commitment to Stalled Housing Projects

As the minister in charge of housing and urban development, Shinde addressed concerns over pending housing projects in Mumbai, Thane, Pune, and other parts of Maharashtra. He assured the public that several long-stalled development projects, some pending for over 25 years, will now be completed in a time-bound manner.

He also praised the cluster development scheme introduced by the Maharashtra government, calling it an innovative and unique initiative unmatched globally. The scheme aims to overcome the shortcomings of the existing Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) policy, particularly ensuring that residents living on upper floors are not excluded from rehabilitation benefits.

"The cluster scheme will provide a comprehensive solution for all types of rehabilitation and development, ensuring that every affected family receives the benefits they deserve," Shinde stated.

Sharp Jabs at Political Opponents

Taking a dig at his rivals, Shinde remarked that his government focuses on action and results, rather than just displaying images or making grand announcements.

"Now that I am the housing minister, I will ensure that long-pending projects are finally completed on time and see the light of day," he asserted.

With this strong stance, the Mahayuti government continues to push its development and welfare agenda, reinforcing its commitment to addressing both social and infrastructural challenges in Maharashtra.
