Gangtok, Mar 2 – A woman was injured in a leopard attack on Sunday in Sikkim’s Namchi district, according to Forest officials.
The incident occurred when the woman was collecting cattle fodder in the forested Melli Dara area. The leopard pounced on her, but local residents, who heard her cries for help, quickly rushed to the scene and managed to rescue her. The leopard fled the area after the intervention.
The woman was promptly taken to STNM Hospital in Gangtok for medical treatment.
Forest authorities have issued a warning to local residents, urging them to exercise caution when venturing into forested regions due to the presence of wildlife.
