IMD Issues Alert for Thunderstorms with Gusty Winds in Delhi​

New Delhi, May 10 — Parts of Delhi experienced light rain and brief drizzles on Saturday, offering some respite from the recent spell of dry heat. The sky remained heavily overcast throughout the day, with thick clouds keeping temperatures relatively in check.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 25.8 degrees Celsius, which is 0.7 degrees below the seasonal average. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 37 degrees Celsius.

The IMD also issued a warning for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kmph. A generally cloudy sky with light rain is forecast for the coming hours.

Relative humidity stood at 65 percent as of 8:30 a.m., contributing to the overall muggy weather.

Air Quality Remains in Moderate Category​

Data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) indicated that Delhi's air quality was in the "moderate" category at 4 p.m., with an Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 186.

As per CPCB guidelines:
  • 0–50: Good
  • 51–100: Satisfactory
  • 101–200: Moderate
  • 201–300: Poor
  • 301–400: Very Poor
  • 401–500: Severe
The moderate air quality, combined with cloudy skies and light rainfall, contributed to a relatively pleasant day for the capital, despite warnings of localized weather disturbances.

Residents are advised to stay updated with IMD alerts and take necessary precautions during thunderstorm conditions.
