Samba, Jammu – February 27: A Shiv temple in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir sustained damage after being struck by lightning on Thursday. Officials confirmed that the incident occurred in the Vijaypur area’s Goramorh locality, causing the temple’s dome to be partially damaged.
A devotee suffered minor injuries after being hit by a falling stone dislodged by the impact. At the time of the incident, worshippers had assembled for the langar service to celebrate Mahashivratri.
Officials reported that the Kalash (sacred urn) atop the temple was uprooted due to the lightning strike. Local authorities have taken stock of the situation, and temple management is expected to undertake repairs soon.
Despite the sudden calamity, devotees continued with the Mahashivratri observances, expressing relief that the damage was not more severe.
