The Lok Sabha has been adjourned for a recess to reconvene on the 9th of next month. When the House reconvened after the first adjournment at 12:00 noon, several ministers placed documents related to their ministries on the table.

Following this, the presiding officer, Sandhya Ray, adjourned the House. Earlier, when the House assembled for the day, the presiding officer made an obituary reference to the passing of former MP Bhagwan Dass Rathor, who had died on January 21st. The House also observed a moment of silence in his memory.

After this, the presiding officer initiated Question Hour, in which Union Health Minister J P Nadda attempted to answer a question regarding deaths caused by the consumption of Codeine-based cough syrup, but he was unable to complete his response due to opposition uproar.

Opposition members, including representatives from the Congress, TMC, and DMK, entered the well of the House and began shouting slogans. She urged members to allow the House to function so that other members could participate in Question Hour. The opposition members continued their protest, leading to the adjournment of the House until 12:00 noon.

The budget session is being held in two phases. The second phase will take place from March 9th to April 2nd of this year.
