New Delhi, Feb 28: Holistic health and nutrition coach Luke Coutinho on Friday commended the integration of millet into the Supplementary Nutrition Program (SNP) and the use of real-time tracking technology via the Poshan Tracker application during his visit to an Anganwadi centre in the capital.
Accompanied by officials from the Women and Child Development Ministry, Coutinho engaged with Anganwadi workers and children, highlighting the critical role of nutrition and lifestyle in tackling the growing obesity crisis. He also emphasized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s campaign against obesity, advocating for balanced diets and healthy living habits.
During the visit, Coutinho interacted with Anganwadi workers, who play a crucial role in early childhood education and community nutrition programs. He also spent time with children, encouraging them to adopt nutritious diets and healthy lifestyle choices.
A key takeaway from his address was the importance of male involvement in family nutrition, stressing that holistic health should be a collective family effort. He also praised the government’s millet-based nutrition initiatives and the Poshan Tracker app, which enhances real-time monitoring of nutritional services under Saksham Anganwadi and Mission Poshan 2.0.
In a symbolic gesture to promote the use of locally available foods, Coutinho planted a curry leaf sapling at the Anganwadi centre, encouraging the community to incorporate nutritious, homegrown ingredients into their daily diets.
This visit underscores the growing focus on nutritional security and technological advancements in public health programs, aligning with India's larger mission to combat malnutrition and obesity through sustainable food choices and digital interventions.
