Vasai Residents Gerald and Priya Pereira Die in Bike-Truck Collision in Badian​

Palghar, May 13 – A couple from Maharashtra’s Palghar district lost their lives in a tragic road accident while vacationing in the Philippines, church authorities confirmed on Tuesday.

Gerald Pereira, 50, and his wife Priya Pereira, 46, residents of the Sandor area in Vasai, were on a two-wheeler in the Badian region of the Philippines on May 10 when a truck collided with them. The impact caused them to crash into an electric pole, according to the chief priest of St Thomas Church, Vasai.

Priya Pereira died on the spot due to the severity of her injuries. Gerald, who was critically injured, succumbed during medical treatment at a local hospital in the Southeast Asian country.

The couple is survived by their son and teenage daughter. Church authorities noted that further details regarding the repatriation of their bodies are awaited.

The tragic incident has left the local community in Vasai in deep mourning.
