Minister Aditi Tatkare Confirms Direct Benefit Transfer to Begin on March 5​

Mumbai, March 3: In a significant announcement, Maharashtra Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare confirmed on Monday that the allowance under the state government's flagship program, Mukhya Mantri Majhi Laadki Bahin Yojana, for February 2025 will be disbursed to beneficiaries on the eve of International Women's Day.

Speaking to reporters within the premises of the Vidhan Bhavan, Minister Tatkare stated that the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) process would commence from March 5. Emphasizing the success of the scheme, she highlighted that it has already reached approximately 2.5 crore women, with over 2.35 crore beneficiaries successfully receiving their allowances in the previous month.

Timely Disbursement Planned for March Allowance​

Minister Tatkare further assured that the installment for March 2025 will be distributed to the beneficiaries before the conclusion of the ongoing budget session on March 26. Meanwhile, the February allowance will specifically be deposited directly into the bank accounts of the women beneficiaries on March 7, aligning perfectly with the celebrations of International Women's Day on March 8.

Decision Pending on Promised Allowance Hike​

Addressing inquiries regarding the government's election promise to increase the monthly assistance from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,000, Minister Tatkare clarified that the decision rests with the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Ministers. An official statement on this matter is yet to be released.

This timely and symbolic gesture by the state government highlights Maharashtra’s continued commitment towards empowering women through direct financial support and welfare initiatives.
