Mumbai, February 11 A First Information Report was registered against former Maharashtra minister Eknath Khadse on Wednesday for allegedly using abusive language towards a police official and a minister at a police station in the Jalgaon district.

Khadse, who is currently a Member of the Legislative Council of the NCP (SP), visited the Sawda police station and questioned why no case had been registered regarding illegal mining at Taskheda in the Raver tehsil, according to an official.

Khadse is alleged to have used abusive language towards a police official on duty and made insulting remarks about him, in addition to threatening to initiate an anti-corruption case against him.

He is also alleged to have used abusive language towards a current minister in the state government regarding another case of theft of reservoir soil, the official added.

An FIR has been registered against Khadse under sections 296 (obscene language) and 221 (obstructing a public servant in the discharge of public duty) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and further investigation is underway, he said.
