Maharashtra Police Bust Transformer Theft Gang in Palghar, Three Arrested

Palghar, March 7: In a significant breakthrough, police in Maharashtra's Palghar district have arrested three individuals accused of stealing electrical transformers, effectively dismantling a gang notorious for such crimes.


The arrested suspects have been identified as Obedulla Alam Tajmmul Hussain Khan (26), Anil Ambika Yadav (22), and Jaysingh Kishorilal Chavan (36). Authorities recovered four stolen electrical transformers, approximately 620 kilograms of copper extracted from transformers, and 20 litres of transformer oil from the accused.


Senior Inspector Samir Ahirrao of Crime Unit-II, Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar Police, explained that the investigation began following a complaint lodged after a transformer theft on February 12. Detailed inquiries and sustained investigative efforts led the police to uncover and apprehend the suspects.


Ahirrao further stated that two of the arrested, Anil Ambika Yadav and Jaysingh Kishorilal Chavan, have extensive criminal records with numerous similar theft cases registered against them.


Police are continuing their investigation to determine whether other individuals were involved or if additional stolen property remains unrecovered.
