Kochi, May 12 – The Maharashtra police conducted a late-night search at the Kochi residence of Rejaz M Sheeba Sydeek, a 26-year-old student activist and self-proclaimed independent journalist from Kerala, who was recently arrested in Nagpur on serious charges, including allegedly preparing to wage war against the Union government.

The search operation took place on Sunday night at Sydeek’s home, located within the jurisdiction of the Edappally Police Station in Kochi. The Maharashtra police team was supported by personnel from the Kerala Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) during the operation.

According to police sources, the search began around 9:30 PM on Sunday and has since concluded. However, officials have not disclosed the nature of the items seized or the findings from the operation.

Sydeek was arrested in Nagpur by Maharashtra police under several provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including:
  • Section 149: Preparing to wage war against the Government of India
  • Section 192: Giving provocation with intent to cause a riot
  • Section 351: Criminal intimidation
  • Section 353: Statements conducive to public mischief
The investigation is ongoing, and further details are awaited as authorities continue to probe the case.
