Structural Cracks Prompt Urgent Expert Intervention
The Maharashtra archaeology department announced on Friday that it plans to consult the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to guide the conservation efforts for the renowned Tulja Bhawani Temple located in Dharashiv district.
During ongoing conservation and repair work by the state archaeology department, significant cracks were discovered in the stones supporting the temple's roof structure. Recognizing the potential risk posed by these structural weaknesses, immediate temporary supports have been provided to stabilize the affected areas.
An official from the state archaeology department stated, "We plan to consult the ASI on the conservation of the temple. To facilitate this, a panel consisting of three superintendent archaeologists from the ASI will be formed. For now, temporary support has been put in place to prevent further damage."
The decision to seek assistance from the ASI gained further impetus after a visit by Sambhaji Chhatrapati, the Raigad Fort Authority president and former Rajya Sabha MP. On Thursday, Chhatrapati stressed the necessity of involving ASI experts to ensure the temple's long-term preservation.
The Tulja Bhawani Temple, a site of historical and religious significance, requires immediate expert intervention to preserve its structural integrity and cultural heritage.
