Fire Incident at CDA Sector 7, Markatnagar
A major fire erupted in a multi-storied residential building in Odisha's Cuttack in the early hours of Friday, leaving two individuals seriously injured, according to official sources.
The blaze was first noticed around 2:30 AM in the garage of the residential complex located in CDA Sector 7, under Markatnagar police station jurisdiction.
Suspected EV Charging Point as Source of Fire
Preliminary investigations suggest the fire originated from an electric vehicle (EV) charging point installed in the garage. However, officials have stated that the exact cause will only be determined following a comprehensive probe into the incident.
Extensive Damage Caused by Fire
Firefighters battled for over two hours to bring the blaze under control. Despite their efforts, the fire severely damaged one car, two motorcycles, and several bicycles parked in the garage. The flames subsequently spread to other parts of the building, causing additional damage.
Condition of Injured Critical
The two injured persons, identified as tenants residing in the affected building, have been admitted to a private hospital. Police sources confirmed their conditions remain critical.
Authorities have initiated an investigation to ascertain the precise reasons behind the fire and to evaluate further damage.
